What are you doing right now? You're supposed to be sending in photos for the FALL installment of Broken Branches. But it sure don't feel like fall right now in San Francisco. It's hot as blazes. I'd like to think that summer is just beginning. That this BBQ/ramp jam was just the first in a three month saga of epic outdoor outings. But the old lady eating soup on her backporch knows the truth. It's only a matter of weeks until she'll be huddled up indoors eating even hotter soup, warming her bones from rainy chill outside. She's already covered her swing bench and pulled the clothes from off the line. If you leave them out after dark, the fog works to the contrary. This year I'm going to be ready. "I'm going to make it through this year if it kills me." I'm going to get a warm waterproof jacket and put together a rain board. If I have to stay inside, I'm going to make a movie or do all those other things I should've done all year. Fall can't keep me down and winter will be a cool breeze. But until then, I'm going to play like it's summer. The pier is skateable again, there aren't any lifeguards at the lake and I just discovered cucumber-chili popsicles. Stay with me sunshine. Stay.
